Wake up motivated —> craft a plan —> get started —> get frustrated with progress —> quit —> repeat. We call it the yo-yo dieting of business. We have all suffered from it, and that’s why took the time to build Certainty U, the CCA, and Certainty Tools; to end the yo-yo business cycle for ourselves and other purpose-driven entrepreneurs.
The Certainty Series:
The Certainty Series is a long masterclass that was taught to an exclusive group of high-performing entrepreneurs. The live class was broken up into 5 weeks:
Week 0: Know Thyself (setting the stage)
Week 1: The Solvable problem
Week 2: Recapture and Reallocate
Week 3: Hidden Pockets of Profit
Week 4: Strategy and Execution
Week 0: Know Thyself (setting the stage)
Many Certainty U programs have what we call a “week 0”. Week 0 is not part of the core training but represents a necessary foundation, base knowledge, and/or the underpinnings of the core training.
Week 0 Exercise and Homework.[PDF]
Typically, high-performers make the mistake of skipping or dismissing week 0, we recommend that you don’t. Inevitably, the individuals that say (or think): “This is elementary, I don’t need to focus on this stuff” are the individuals that stay on the yo-yo cycle.
Playing Your Game with Randy Massengale.[Video]
Randy Massengale, former senior advisor to Bill Gates at Microsoft, introduced Dan to the “Playing Your Game” framework. In this video, Randy takes attendees through the exercise of remembering what their game is and how they should be playing it. Not part of the original Certainty Series, we added this video as a supplemental resource.
Week 1: Solvable Problem
Week 1 Covers an Overview of the Solvable Problem, including:
Why do we never feel like we are getting close to what we actually want?
The yo-yo dieting of business, why do you start, stop and do it over and over again?
Turning the unsolvable problem into a solvable one (and then solving it)
The reasons you might fail (pitfalls)
Note: In live classes, we will share what we are testing, what is working, what isn’t working, and how we are thinking about it. Because they are live classes, the details may not be “evergreen”. We share replays of live classes expecting the reader to be able to extract the conceptual frameworks and apply them to their own situation(s).
Additional Resources:
CCA students are encouraged to share what they learn on their own platforms and wrapped in a context that will best connect with their audiences. The Guardian Academy wrote recaps of the Certainty Series here. We approve of these recaps because we like memes. Note: articles, videos, and/or podcasts published by 3rd parties are an interpretation of the Certainty U principles.
